Twenty years of listening

For over two decades, our team has sat in the back offices of Indian businesses: factories, agencies, trading firms, growing startups. We built the software they ran on, and we watched the same scene play out everywhere.

The payroll spreadsheet that only one person understands, and the panic when that person is on leave. The offer letter recreated from scratch for the forty-third time. The PAN card photocopy that nobody can find during an audit. And behind every one of those small disasters, a person: an employee waiting for a payslip, a new joiner sitting at a desk with no laptop, someone with a serious complaint and nowhere safe to take it.

Somewhere along the way we understood the thing that changed us: HR software is not really about HR. Every row in that spreadsheet is someone's salary. Every pending approval is someone's holiday with their parents. Every "we'll sort it out later" is a person waiting.

So we built the product we kept wishing existed

ZekoHR started with a simple reversal. Most HR tools are built for the company, and the employee is the data. We built for the employee first: their leave balance visible without asking anyone, their payslip in their own portal, their documents in one place, their voice in a feed, and a confidential channel for the conversations that take courage.

It turns out that when you take care of the person, the company's problems mostly solve themselves. Attendance that feeds payroll. Documents that chase their own expiry dates. Approvals that find the right desk on their own. One record, one login, no drift.

People first, in practice

Four commitments, and every one of them is checkable in the product today:

• Employees are users, not records. Self-service is the core of the product, not an add-on. It works on the phone in their pocket.
• Honesty over polish. Our security page lists what is live and what is still planned, including the uncomfortable parts. Our pricing renders from the same catalog that bills you.
• India is the default, not a locale. TDS, GST invoices, PF and ESI, restricted holidays, data in Mumbai. Built in from day one, not translated in later.
• Nobody gets locked in. The same documented API that powers every screen is available to you. Your data was never ours to keep.

Who you are talking to

We are a small team in Kolkata, and we like it that way. The people who answer your questions are the people who wrote the code. There is no tiered support maze, no account manager script, no "let me check with engineering". You are already talking to engineering.

Twenty years in this industry taught us one more thing: software companies come and go, but trust compounds. We would rather grow slowly with customers who chose us for the right reasons than quickly with customers who were talked into it.
