Subdomain and custom domain
Every organisation on ZekoHR lives at its own address, `{workspace}.zekohr.com`. The workspace label is chosen at signup, it identifies your organisation before anyone signs in (so the sign-in page already shows your name, logo and colour), and it is effectively permanent because it is a DNS name people bookmark and that appears in every emailed link.
Who can do this: The workspace address is set once by whoever signs the organisation up. There is no screen to change it or to add a custom domain; for either, ask the ZekoHR team at [email protected] from an Admin account.
Where to find it
Your current address is the host in your browser when you are signed in. There is no settings page for it. The sign-in flow is described in Signing in and workspaces.
Choosing the workspace address at signup
The signup form field is Workspace address. As you type the organisation name, a suggestion is generated; you can edit it, and an availability check runs as you leave the field.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Characters | Lowercase letters, digits and hyphens; a valid DNS label |
| Length | 3 to 63 characters |
| Reserved | Infrastructure and product names such as `www`, `api`, `app`, `admin`, `sa`, `status`, `help`, `billing`, `login`, `signup`, `support`, `zekohr`, `hr`, `hrm`, `auth`, `sso`, `account`, `password` and similar, plus common offensive words |
| Taken | Another organisation already holds it; the form suggests a free variant |
If the requested label is taken between the check and the submit, the signup still succeeds on a suggested variant and tells you "slug changed".
How requests reach the right organisation
- Signing in on `app.zekohr.com` (the universal sign-in) finds the workspace your account belongs to and redirects you to `{workspace}.zekohr.com`.
- Signing in on your own subdomain paints your branding first (name, logo, colour only; nothing else about the organisation is exposed to the public).
- The address is only a hint. Your signed-in session decides which organisation's data you see. If you open another organisation's address while signed in, the app redirects you to your own address rather than showing anything cross-organisation.
- Emailed links always use your canonical address, so a bookmark or a forwarded email lands in the right place.
Custom domains (white-label)
Enterprise organisations on a white-label arrangement can be served on their own hostname, for example `hr.yourcompany.com`, instead of a zekohr.com subdomain. This is part of the white-label feature; ask the ZekoHR team at [email protected] to set it up. Once it is live, your canonical address becomes the custom host: sign-in redirects and emailed links use it, and `{workspace}.zekohr.com` keeps working as an alias.
On a custom domain, an unknown or unverified host shows a brand-free page reading "This address isn't set up" so a mistyped domain can never show a ZekoHR sign-in form, and a network failure shows "This page could not load" with Try again.
With white-label on, your Branding product name replaces "ZekoHR" across the product, emails, exports and seeded help articles; see Branding.
What happens next
- Changing the workspace label or adding a domain is done by the ZekoHR team and is logged on their side; your audit log records the branding changes you make.
- Nothing about seats, plan or data changes with the address.
Rules and limits
- One canonical address per organisation; a verified custom domain takes precedence over the subdomain.
- Nested addresses such as `a.b.zekohr.com` are not possible.
- Custom domains require the white-label feature on your plan. This module must be enabled on your plan; Admins can check Settings → Billing.
- A white-label organisation on the internal plan has no Billing page at all.
Troubleshooting
People keep landing on app.zekohr.com and typing the wrong workspace. Send them the full `https://{workspace}.zekohr.com` link; signing in there needs only email and password.
We renamed the company; can the address change? Only by asking the ZekoHR team at [email protected], and old bookmarks and emailed links will break. Most organisations keep the original label.
Our custom domain shows "This address isn't set up". DNS is pointing at ZekoHR but the domain is not verified on our side, or the hostname differs (with or without `www`). Write to [email protected] with the exact host.
Emails still link to the zekohr.com subdomain after our domain went live. Links are built from the canonical address at send time; messages sent before verification keep the old links.
